Persecution of Autism
Most Autistic people are and have been subjected to persecution. In the past many Autistics have been labeled as "witches" and "lunatics".It has been estimated that 63% of Autisctic children in Amreican schools are bullied by other children. Children with Autism are far more likely to be targeted for physical and/or physical abuse.
This treatment continues into adulthood where one third of Autistic people have reported being descriminated against in the worklplace. 81% have reported that they have either being bullied, experienced unfairness or lack of support in the workplace.
Autistic people are 28 times more likely to commit suicide that the general population. This rate is higher than the rate for war veterans or rape survivors.
In contemporary Sub-Saharan Africa, Austistic people are commonly accused of witchcraft because of their eccentric behaviour, and are often subject to torture and even death.
Altough no figures exist, as Autism was first described by Kanner and Asperger in 1944, but is is believed that many of the disabled children killed in Action T4 in Nazi Germany had Autism.
Many Autistic children are currently forced to take bleach enemas in a misguided attempt to "cure" them of Autism, or to kill the non-existant "Autism Worm". This "treatment" causes lifelong medical problems and may cause death.
Some religious groups view Autism as Demon Possesion, and these children are constantly subjected to violent exorcisms that at times has led to deaths. Some religious groups promote the idea that Autism is a Generational Curse due to an ancestor's involvement in Freemasonry, or what that particular religious group considers a cult.
